Community mourns loss of Debbie Bowden

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Debbie Bowden on Sunday January 29, 2012.

Passionately dedicated to the Riverdale community, its children, and especially the public schools therein, she taught Speech and Language in the New York City school system, was a former Parents Association president at P.S. 24 and a member of Community Board 8, where she chaired the Committee on Education. For close to 30 years, she was the Girls Head Counselor at Camp Delaware in Winsted, CT.

Debbie Bowden is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Don; sons Brett, Bryan and Bradd; daughters-in-law Cara and Eileen; and grandchildren Miles, Kelly, Max, Samantha, Jessica, and Jordyn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name can be made to the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center of White Plains, NY (914-696-0738) or the National Center for Learning Disabilities in Manhattan (212-575-7373).
